Registering and your dashboard

This guide is for people looking for work on a JS Jobs site. You can browse jobs and companies without an account, but to post a resume, apply and keep track of your applications you need to register as a job seeker.

  1. Click Register in the site’s menu.

  2. Fill in the form. Every field is required.

  3. Click Register.

The User Registration form: Name, User Name, User Email, Confirm Email, Password and Verify Password, the User Role list set to Job Seeker, and the Register button.

Field What to enter
Name Your full name. Employers see it on your applications.
User Name The name you log in with. If someone already has it, Username is already exist appears as soon as you leave the box.
User Email / Confirm Email Your e-mail address, twice. The site sends job alerts and application news here. An address that is already registered shows Email is already exist.
Password / Verify Password Your password, twice.
User Role Choose Job Seeker. If the site only takes job seekers, the role is fixed and shown as text.
Captcha Shown only if the site asks for one.

The rest is Joomla’s own registration: depending on the site, you may need to click a link in an activation e-mail, or wait for the site owner to approve your account, before you can log in.

If the page says User registration is not allowed, the site does not take new accounts at the moment. Contact the site owner.

If you already have an account on the site

Section titled “If you already have an account on the site”

If you registered on the site some other way, JS Jobs doesn’t yet know whether you are an employer or a job seeker. The first time you open a job seeker page you are asked to Please select your role. Choose Job Seeker and click Submit. Sites that don’t take employers skip this step and make you a job seeker straight away.

Use the site’s login module, or the Login link at the right of the JS Jobs menu bar. The JS Jobs login page asks for your User Name and Password. Forgot Your Password? and Forgot Your Username? take you to Joomla’s reset pages.

The JS Jobs Login page with the User Name and Password boxes, the Login button, and the Forgot Your Password? and Forgot Your Username? links.

Once you are logged in, open Job Seeker Control Panel from the site’s menu. The page is headed My Stuff.

Maria Lopez’s Job Seeker Control Panel: her photo, name and e-mail with Edit Profile, the Short Links list, the Newest Jobs, Applied Job, My Resume and Job Save Search boxes, the Active Jobs graph, Suggested Jobs and Applied Resume.

Every JS Jobs page has a bar at the top with Control Panel, Newest Jobs, Job Categories, Search Job and My Resumes, and Login or Logout on the right. The site owner chooses which of these appear.

The left column shows the photo from your newest resume, your name and your e-mail address. Edit Profile opens your Joomla profile, where you change your name, e-mail or password.
